As human beings, we rely far too much on what our eyes can see… When you see a christian act or speak in a way that is contrary to the Word of God, it is almost devastating to your faith. Especially when it is someone you look up to, a family member, a spiritual mentor, a pastor… No matter what position a person holds in this world, it is important to remember that we are ALL human beings, and with that we ALL have faults. 1 Peter 5:8 says “the devil roams around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to seize upon and devour.” None of us are exempt from this attack. The only one who will not let you down by wickedness, sin, and selfish ambition is God and our savior Jesus Christ. We must keep our spiritual eyes set on Him, because our physical eyes can and will interpret truth for lies.
While christian fellowship is important, as it says in Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”, this should never be the foundation of our faith. The wise man built his house on the Rock. Everything you know to be true about our Father in heaven needs to come from His Word. His Word is Truth and Life. And when people or circumstances of this life try to draw us away from this Truth, we fix our eyes an that which we cannot see…

This post brings two scriptures to mind:
1Peter 1:8 – “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (NIV)
And
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 – “no eye has seen, no ear has heard
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him— these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” ( NIV)
Praise God for giving us spiritual eyes to see past the illusions of this world, it’s deception and temptations. Only His truth and His word stands when all else crumbles, and I, for one, will keep my eyes focused on Jesus! Thank you for sharing this post.
Thank you for your insight! Gods Word is Truth and Life!!! Hallelujah!
